Virtual POS

The expression virtual POS typically has two meanings. The first corresponds to the payment gateway, i.e., the platform which enables the merchant to receive payments on its Ecommerce website. This interpretation arises from the fact that an online payment platform performs the same functions as the POS in a bricks-and-mortar store, but in this case it is virtual. The second definition instead refers to a platform that enables the merchant to enter card data instead of its customer, therefore allowing it to receive MOTO (Mail Order Telephone Order) payments in which the card information is provided by the customer via email, fax or telephone.
