Social Engineering

Also called human hacking. Has a scope of obtaining private information illegally via manipulations and deception in order to commit Ecommerce fraud, blackmail or defraud other people. First the bad actor gathers info about the targeted victim, then contacts them to build trust, often posing as someone else. The red flags that would point to social engineering are one or more of the following: receiving unusual messages from friends or strangers, those might be very emotional and intense, there is an urgent request or an emergency, the sender refuses to confirm their identity, the potential victim feels uneasy during the dialogue.
