BIN

The BIN (Bank Identification Number) identifies the first 6 numbers of the 16 that make up the credit card number (PAN). The first digit of the BIN indicates the category to which the card issuer belongs (eg bank, airline, etc.) and its combination with the next five identifies the specific issuer.
